Priceline.com can save you a ton for hotel rooms, especially in large cities. You bid blindly on room rates, and by specifying a certain number of stars (the more the better), you reduce the chance of getting an inferior room. But first, go to biddingfortravel.com, a site that shows actual successful bids for rooms on priceline. Just put in the name of the city you want to stay in and read the stories. The two sites work hand-in-hand. My husband recently booked a terrific room for $46/night at the Hyatt Regency Union Station (king size bed, desk, great decor) and saved his client, a non-profit organization, a LOT over the week.
